My Personal Story: How I Found Animal Communication

As far back as I can remember, animals have always touched my heart and soul. Throughout my life they have been my companions, my teachers, and a source of unconditional love. Looking back, I realize they were also my safe place. During times growing up when I did not always feel fully seen or understood by people around me, animals somehow understood me without words. They never asked me to be anything other than who I was.
Even as a child, something within me knew I wanted to dedicate my life to helping animals in some way, although I had no idea what that path would look like.
Years later, a friend asked me a simple yet life-changing question: “What is it that you truly want to do?” Without hesitation, I spoke about my deep love for animals and my desire to support them and be of service.
My friend suggested training service dogs. While I deeply admired the important work they do, I realized something surprising: although service dogs profoundly help people, my heart felt called in another direction. I wanted to help the animals themselves.
I later considered volunteering at an animal shelter, imagining that perhaps I had finally found my path. But I quickly discovered another challenge—I wanted to rescue and bring every animal home with me. My heart simply felt too big for the boundaries I was trying to create.
Then one day I heard about animal communication.
At the time, I believed it was a rare gift given only to a few fortunate people. I remember feeling fascinated and quietly wishing I could somehow be one of them. Learning that there were schools and teachers for animal communication felt as though a door had suddenly opened—a possibility I had never even imagined.
Excited, I began researching teachers and programs. For months I searched, yet nothing felt fully aligned. Some teachers were not offering classes and with others I simply did not feel that inner resonance. Eventually I stopped looking, but the longing in my heart remained.
About six months later I felt drawn to begin searching again, and that was when I found Maia Kincaid, Ph.D. I instantly knew in my heart that I had found my teacher. Her warm, encouraging, and uncomplicated teaching style allowed students to begin experiencing communication with animals right from the very first class.
What started as a quiet longing slowly unfolded into the path I had been searching for all along. Through continued learning, practice, and guidance, I eventually stepped into working professionally as an animal communicator.
Today, it is one of the greatest honors of my life to connect with animals around the world and help their voices, feelings, wisdom, and perspectives be heard.
Looking back now, I realize that animals had been guiding me toward this path all along.
I simply needed to learn how to listen.
